Protest images from the G8 Meeting in Gleneagles 2005

Photos of the G8 summit and counteractivities in Gleneagles (Scotland) 2005

The G8 protest pictures were made during the events happening around the summit. The meeting by the members of the g8 led to several demonstrations, blockades and riots. Protesters tried to disturb delegates and politicians in Edinburgh, the Stirling area and in the Auchterarder/Gleneagles surrounding.

Massive police force tried to spereate officials from protesters, but the due to the long distances between Glasgow, Edinburgh and Gleneagles, lots of roads were blocked by anti globalisation protesters. Media and delegate busses took several hours to get to the Gleneagles hotel where the meeting was held.

Members of the G8 are: UK, USA, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, Canada & Russia - a "9th seat" for the European Union.
G8 critcs often refer to the G8 as kind of a "world government", so annual summits grew to a key event in the peoples "protest calenders", knowing that there will gather thousand of people with different backgrounds uniting against an easily identifiable target.
